Liverpool have been busy with incomings but it appears as though the tides are changing and selling is the next port of call.

The Reds have a star-studded squad and the number of top-quality players is only increasing, and so is the total valuation of the team.

It would cost any club a good chunk of money to prise most of the stars away from Anfield, especially this summer as the Reds are set up for a very exciting season indeed.

One player who is rumoured with a move away, however, is winger Luis Diaz, and the Colombian has not exactly shut down links regarding a departure.

Al Nassr are preparing a £73m bid for Diaz, while Barcelona and Bayern Munich are also in the race for his signature, with all of them believing that the 28-year-old is gettable in the coming months.

But, despite all the stories, there is one detail in particular that is being misreported, and it is arguably one of the most important factors in the saga altogether.

When a player is one of the most important to their team, fans would expect their wages to be head and shoulders above the rest, or at the very least on par.

However, reports have always suggested that Diaz’s wages are much lower than most other players in the squad, with most believing that he was being paid as little as £55,000 a week.

But, journalist David Lynch has confirmed that this is simply not the case, and the Colombian international is actually getting paid a lot more than many think.

“If he can’t get those moves, does he need to prioritise getting a bump in his wage,” Lynch said on his Youtube Channel.

“Because he’s on relatively reasonable wages, not as low as some people report, but he’s on relatively reasonable wages, and he may want to go onto a higher wage from this point.”

Of course, individuals will want more as they show progression and Diaz is deserving of just that, but the misreported information has perhaps suggested that he is more out than in at Anfield.

Now, however, the storyline has perhaps changed and Liverpool do not need to do too much to convince him to stay, although they will still have to fend off plenty of interest to keep one of their star men.

Although he is one of Arne Slot’s key players, Liverpool can afford to let him go this summer, especially if they get the sort of fee that is being reported.

Cody Gakpo is an excellent option to have off the left and is, arguably, more clinical from that flank, hence why Diaz played in a more central role for most of last campaign.

With the Reds also wanting a striker, it also gives them the option to cash in on the 28-year-old and use the money to replace him with an out-and-out number nine, while keeping the squad as small as possible.

If the likes of Federico Chiesa and Diogo Jota also stay, as well as bringing through some of the academy players, then the Reds are sorted in the left wing area for next season already, suggesting it is not the end of the world if they let Diaz go.
