Florian Wirtz’s transfer to Liverpool has dominated headlines over the past couple of weeks, with the saga feeling like it’s starting to drag on.
The transfer of Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen could end up being one of the signings of the summer, with the attacking midfielder highly regarded as one of the best in the world.

And, even though it was being reported on Tuesday evening that Wirtz’s move to Liverpool was a done deal, it seems like that’s no longer the case.
As per a fresh report from Liverpool ECHO journalist Ian Doyle, it seems like Liverpool have not yet agreed terms with Bayer Leverkusen over Wirtz’s transfer.
Doyle outlines that even though reports of a £126million bid being accepted were shared on Tuesday, Liverpool sources have come out and ‘dismissed’ the claims as ‘premature’.
The report adds that Bayer Leverkusen sources have also echoed that, meaning the Reds might not be as close to completing the signing as many would have hoped.
The highest Liverpool have offered is £114m, and although that offer was never ‘formally rejected’, it did work out to be a ‘catalyst’ for talks to begin.
