The Reds wanting Isak is the worst kept secret in football and both the club and player have made their feelings very apparent.
However, so too have Newcastle, and their reluctance to sell their star striker has turned, what could have been, a relatively simple deal into the biggest saga this summer.
However, the Swede’s stance is clear and he does not want to play on Tyneside anymore, with a switch to Anfield the only move he wants to make.
There is definitely still hope that a deal will be struck, all Newcastle need now is a little bit of time, but now there are huge fears internally that could severely impact Liverpool getting their dream target.

Newcastle’s stance has somewhat changed throughout the window, with the general consensus now being that they are more open to selling, albeit very reluctantly.
And, they will only do so on one condition, this being after they have found a replacement, with the Magpies hoping this will be RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.
They have already had a bid turned down for him but only due to the structure of the deal, with Newcastle still quietly confident in getting it over the line.
I think Newcastle are desperate for an answer from Sesko.
I’m waiting by my phone for information on that,” journalist Keith Downie told Redmen TV 2.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s in the next 24 to 48 hours, and then that should then begin a domino effect.

“But I think there’s probably an internal fear within that Sesko is waiting on Manchester United due to the fact that they’re a bigger club historically and the fact that they’re probably offered more wages as well than what Newcastle can.
“If the Manchester United thing happens, then Newcastle have got a problem and in turn, you guys [Liverpool] have got a bit of a problem as well.
“Because I honestly do not see Newcastle, from what I’m hearing, allowing Isak to go without a readymade replacement.
So I still see a situation where he starts the season as a Newcastle player, if they fail to get Sesko.”
Although the player is still yet to decide, publicly at least, the fact that Manchester United have now bid for the Slovenian is a worrying sign for both Newcastle and Liverpool.
Reporters suggested that they would only submit a formal offer if there was encouragement on the player’s side, indicating that the 22-year-old has perhaps indicated to Man United that he is leaning towards them.
If he does choose the Red Devils, the Magpies’ search for a new striker will go on, and this will only extend Liverpool’s waiting time for Isak.
With the season getting closer and time to buy players running out, there is a genuine possibility that the Swede is forced to remain at Newcastle despite his desires, suggesting that this one could get messy.
