Alexander Isak has been on Liverpool’s transfer wishlist since the start of June.

The striker is one of the best in the world and, to be honest, he was easily the best in the Premier League last season.

And, while speaking on the Sports Mole YouTube channel, journalist David Lynch gave his thoughts on whether the Reds could still end up signing Isak if Newcastle only make one addition.

“It’s definitely on the table that they sign just one in Strand Larsen and sell Isak regardless,” Lynch said.

“I think that would just be an acknowledgement of the fact that the Isak situation is completely untenable.”

As mentioned, Liverpool have already had a £110million offer rejected by Newcastle for their star man.

In an ideal world for the Magpies, they’d end up keeping Isak and have him lead their attacking line and then use Jorgen Strand Larsen as a back-up, or even to allow them to start with two strikers.

However, since Isak is set on exiting this summer, you’d think that they’d take the £120million+ deal and allow him to depart.

To make another bid for the towering Swede, Liverpool are waiting for the “green light” from the Magpies.

“Liverpool are still waiting for that green light to come and bid [for Isak] and if they get that, you’d be amazed if the deal doesn’t get done,” Lynch said on the Sports Mole YouTube channel.

“I’m pretty sure they both have similar ideas around what that fee would be.

“It’s just that waiting game now.”

Of course, only time will tell whether a deal goes through, but with how determined Isak is to leave St James’ Park, it’s hard to see how Newcastle would be able to keep him around, let alone reintegrate him into their squad.
