By now, most Liverpool fans are aware that the decision-makers at Anfield like Julian Alvarez.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed that in the summer of 2024, the Argentina international was on the club’s shortlist.

Behind the scenes, Liverpool even explored a high-stakes swap involving Luis Díaz in the summer of 2024, proposing that the Colombia winger head to the Etihad in exchange for Alvarez.

However, the Manchester club swiftly rejected the notion, citing the rivalry between the clubs and stating “we don’t sell to rivals”, prompting Liverpool’s recruitment team to quip “neither do we” when informed of City’s stance.

But it seems that the agent of Alavarez, Fernando Hidalgo, can’t stop talking about Liverpool.

Speaking to Erem News (as quoted by Diario AS), the agent felt obliged to reconfirm that there were no offers from Liverpool for his client:

“There were no official offers from Liverpool to sign Julián last season, and everything that has been said about it is false,” Hidalgo said.

“Last summer there were no offers either because Atletico Madrid did not want to sell the player, so they were not negotiated.”

Hidalgo also asserted that he does not know if Alvarez will be fit to face Liverpool this Wednesday at Anfield:

“I can’t confirm it at the moment?

The decision is in the hands of the coaching staff.

“What is certain is that the player is fully committed to Atletico and is solely focused on doing what is best for the club.”

This is far from the first time that the representative of Alvarez has spoken about Liverpool.

Speaking back in March of this year, Hidalgo said:

“I confirm that Liverpool was interested in Julian last summer.”

Atletico made a €81 million investment to bring the forward to Spain back in 2024.

With Alvarez’s contract running until 2030 and a €150 million release clause, it will be a tough deal to broker.
