Atletico Madrid will want Julian Alvarez available against Liverpool this week(Image: Alvaro Medranda/Quality Sport Images/Getty Images)Julian Alvarez has hinted he has a part to play against Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday.
The Atletico Madrid forward gave his side an injury scare days before the big game and has even been linked with transfer interest from the Reds.
Liverpool begin their European campaign when they welcome Diego Simeone's side to Anfield.
Since the start of last season Atleti's danger man has been Alvarez, who has scored 30 goals himself while creating eight following his £81m transfer from Manchester City.
However, following a La Liga victory over Villarreal four nights before the Champions League clash, the Argentine left his club in fear as he required a half-time substitution as an injury 'precaution'.

"Until he wakes up tomorrow and gets through his first few hours after the discomfort he had," Simeone told reporters on Saturday.
"We hope it's nothing and we trust he'll be back in top condition as soon as possible."
Now for the La Liga outfit's benefit, the 25-year-old has given an indication that he could be ready to play at Anfield without any issues.
Posting on Instagram, Alvarez told his followers: Happy about the victory [smiling emoji] Now focused on the first Champions League match [bicep emoji]."
Liverpool will hope the opposition forward isn't feeling 100 per cent as he scored twice against them in five appearances for former club City.
When he was leaving Pep Guardiola's side in summer 2024, he obviously ended in Spain but now The Telegraph have recently claimed there was a brief exchange over a swap deal between the Reds and their title rivals.
It stemmed from Luis Diaz's alleged desire to leave Liverpool one year before he eventually did so for Bayern Munich.
In turn, Liverpool denied them the chance to sign Diaz and the South American players have gone on to complete alternative moves.
