Jurgen Klopp claims his Liverpool players found it 'difficult' to play at Real Madrid's training ground after they fell to a poor 3-1 defeat at the Spanish side in the Champions League.

Since the coronavirus outbreak over a year ago, Real Madrid have been playing all their home games at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano while they revamp their Bernabeu home.

Compared to the 81,000 stadium, Madrid's training ground holds just 6,000 and even though no supporters have been allowed to attend games recently, Klopp claims the atmosphere felt strange during the first-leg quarter-final loss.

The Liverpool manager also relished the prospect of trying to overturn the two-goal deficit when they welcome the Spanish side back to Anfield next Wednesday.

'It must be a really tricky task for Real Madrid at Anfield,' Klopp said.

Liverpool were easily seen off on Tuesday night, with a brace from Vinicius Junior and another from Marco Asensio after a horror Trent Alexander-Arnold blunder put Zinedine Zidane's side in control of the tie.

Liverpool have previous when it comes to overturning Spanish giants on home soil, famously defeating Barcelona 4-0 to win 4-3 on aggregate on their way to winning the Champions League in 2019.However, Klopp believes playing in front of Anfield supporters has helped on them on such occasions, and the absence of fans in relation to the Covid outbreak could hinder them next week.
