Recruitment expert Mick Brown told Football Insider West Ham are pushing to sign Elliott as they look to strengthen their squad this summer.

RB Leipzig have now emerged as a potential option ahead of the transfer window closing on 1 September.

German newspaper BILD reported on 6 August Klopp wants to sign Elliott for the Bundesliga club as a replacement for Xavi Simons, who has been heavily linked with Chelsea.

Klopp began working as Red Bull’s head of global soccer in January, where he oversees their network of clubs, which includes RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg, New York Red Bulls, Red Bull Bragantino and a minority stake in Leeds United. 

A deal for Elliott to join RB Leipzig would see Klopp help boost Liverpool’s spending power this summer, with a potential £40million transfer fee on the cards.

It’s already been a busy transfer window at Anfield after multiple new additions have arrived through the door in recent weeks.

The Reds have spent around £270million after signing Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Armin Pecsi and Freddie Woodman.
