It is never easy to be put into the early kick-off slot on a Saturday, particularly after the international break, but Liverpool came out on top against Wolves before being able to sit back and watch the rest of the Premier League fixtures. Manchester City matched Liverpool's result by going a goal behind only to win 3-1 before and Arsenal both won as well (against Brentford and Everton respectively). Brighton was also victorious, comfortably getting over the line against Manchester United with Erik ten Hag's side booed at one stage of that comprehensive defeat. It is still too early on to be drawing hard conclusions from the opening string of results, but the patterns are undoubtedly very good so far for Liverpool and a few others.
Next up is a return to the Europa League for Liverpool with a trip to Austria to face LASK. Then a visit to Anfield by West Ham lies ahead next weekend as the Premier League resumes again.
If there is one area of the pitch that Liverpool looks light, it most definitely is at the back.
