Former Liverpoool coach Jurgen Klopp has been inducted into a unique category of the League Managers Association Hall of fame.
A year after leaving Liverpool, Klopp was back in the city and club this past week, as he joined millions of fans in the city and across the world to celebrate the club’s astounding Premier League success.
Indeed it has been a very busy week for the German, who was part of the LFC Foundation Gala on Friday, was at Anfield on Sunday to witness the trophy-lift, and was also part of the parade on Monday.
Perhaps no Liverpool manager in the last two decades commands the kind of affection Klopp commands with the Liverpool fanbase and club not just for the success he brought, but also because of huis personality.
Klopp is an active member of the LFC Foundation and currently serves as a club ambassador.
Outside of his affiliation to Liverpool, Klopp is also well loved and respected at his former clubs Mainz and Borussia Dortmund.
Before his move to Anfield in 2015, the German had overseen almost 600 games at Mainz and Dortmund.
Meanwhile, Klopp spent close to nine years at Liverpool overseeing 491 games in that period. That means that between February 2001 when he made his first-team managerial debut to May 2024 when he oversaw his last Liverpool game, Klopp has overseen 1,080 games.
That’s a remarkable number that few managers get reach in their lifetimes.
Klopp has been recognised for his achievement, with the League Managers Association inducting him into the 1000 club Hall of Fame category. The former Liverpool manager is already a LMA Hall of Fame inductee, after being inducted in 2019.
However, the LMA Hall of Fame 1000 Club is a special category that honours the remarkable achievement of coaches that have managed 1000 competitive matches throughout their incredible career.
“Congratulations to Jürgen Klopp on being inducted into the LMA Hall of Fame 1000 club, honoring the remarkable achievement of managing 1000 competitive matches throughout an incredible career,” a LMA statement read.
Klopp was inducted alongside Mick McCarthy, David Moyes, Jose Mourinho, and Ian Holloway.
