Jurgen Klopp laments Arsenal tactics as Jamie Carragher questions Liverpool changes

Jurgen Klopp was left frustrated by Arsenal's tactics in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg, admitting his team would have preferred to take the lead instead of playing the majority of the game against 10 men.

"Listen, Liverpool still didn’t do enough in that last half-an-hour with the extra attacking players on but I just thought it was really strange Liverpool didn’t make that change and almost set the store out early on with what they wanted to do because it was a very workable midfield and against ten men against Arsenal it certainly wasn’t needed."

While Klopp remained hopeful of reaching the final with the two-legged tie delicately poised, pundit and former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher questioned the manager's tactical decisions as Liverpool waited until the hour mark to make their first substitution of the game.

Who will win the second leg at the Emirates?

"It’s probably one of the things, probably one of the only things I can question Jurgen Klopp at times, does he make substitutions early enough?"

The hosts did create chances in the second half, with Klopp making reference to the impact of Curtis Jones and Neco Williams from the bench, but they failed to make a breakthrough.

Liverpool will remain without Salah and Mane for the second leg, while Naby Keita will also still be away at AFCON, but Carragher pointed to other issues after the goalless draw.
