Liverpool head to Brighton on Saturday with Virgil van Dijk set to return to the starting lineup after being rested in the FA Cup defeat at Wolves.

Van Dijk is in the running for this year's PFA Player of the Year prize, having been the rock solid presence at the heart of a Reds defence which has conceded just 10 goals in 21 games thus far.

But with all out injured, Van Dijk is set to line up alongside Fabinho on Saturday at the Amex, with the Brazilian deputising at the back - as he did on Monday night.

The 27-year-old has thrived since his switch to Anfield at the start of 2017 and Klopp was effusive in his praise of his main man on Friday.

“If Fabinho has to play as a centre-half what we want is the natural understanding of the game," added Klopp.

"If Fabinho has to play, we work on that on the training pitch.

“He has so many things already good and so many he can still improve," said Klopp.
