Jurgen Klopp has shared his thoughts on the current form of Mohamed Salah after Liverpool crashed out of the Europa League.
The Reds’ journey came to an end at the quarter-final stage as they were defeated 3-1 on aggregate by Atalanta, despite securing a 1-0 victory in Thursday’s second-leg clash in Italy.
Salah’s seventh-minute penalty initially raised hopes for Klopp’s side, hinting at a potential comeback to overturn the three-goal deficit from the first leg at Anfield.
However, Liverpool couldn’t engineer a dramatic turnaround, marking this fixture as the final European match of Klopp’s managerial tenure.
Salah missed a golden opportunity to extend Liverpool’s lead shortly before half-time at the Stadio di Bergamo.
Despite a dominant first-half performance, Liverpool failed to maintain momentum after the break.
With their elimination from the Europa League, Liverpool’s focus now shifts solely to the Premier League title race.
Their next fixture is a crucial away match against Fulham on Sunday.
Speaking about Salah’s form after the game, Klopp said: “I am not particularly concerned.
“That’s what strikers do, that’s what happens to strikers, that’s how it is.
“We will go through that but that’s pretty much all.
“It’s not that Mo didn’t miss chances before in his life, that’s a part of the game.
“The penalty was super-convincing, a super penalty, then the next chance, that was obviously unlucky but it is not the first time he missed a chance like that?
“I will not make a big story of it, what you make of it I obviously have no influence on obviously, but no, I am not particularly concerned.”
Salah is currently Liverpool’s top scorer this season with 24 goals across all competitions.
