Jurgen Klopp has revealed one regret he had this season as the end of the campaign nears ever closer.

The German will bid goodbye to Anfield at the end of the term, and he definitely feels a weight off his shoulders judging by the recent press conferences.

While the 56-year-old won’t get the fairytale ending of riding off into the sunset with a second Premier League medal around his neck, there is still pride to play for in the last two games of the season.

The upcoming match against Aston Villa offers a chance to energize the fans and conclude Jurgen Klopp’s tenure on a positive note.

Liverpool is positioned third in the league with 78 points, trailing Manchester City by four points and Arsenal by five.

For Liverpool to clinch the Premier League title, they must win their remaining two games, while hoping for Manchester City to draw one and lose two, and for Arsenal to lose their final two matches.

Given the unlikely nature of this scenario, the priority should be to savor the final moments under Jurgen Klopp’s leadership.

One player that has really come into his own at Anfield this season has been Harvey Elliott, showcasing maturity and skill that belies his age.

The former Fulham man has managed to rack up 51 appearances across all competitions, and recently passed the 100-appearance mark for the Anfield club.

It is a fantastic achievement, made even more special as he is only 21 years old now.

However, despite this, Jurgen Klopp has revealed a regret around Harvey Elliott.

What did Jurgen Klopp say?

Speaking in his pre-Aston Villa press conference, the German was quizzed on his reaction to Elliott being snubbed for the Premier League Young Player of the Season:

“But if I regret one thing a little bit it’s that Harvey didn’t play often enough maybe.”

“It was in a very important and intense period.

January, [with] a lot of injuries, he played really good, he was probably our best player, right wing, right midfield, all these kind of things.”

“Everybody came back and he had minutes here and there and then he didn’t start anymore?

[He] came on [and had] a big impact but it’s really nice that he could show.”

Klopp was also asked on Elliott’s chances on making the England squad for the upcoming European Championships – having already been capped at U21 level:

“If it were to help Harvey [make the England squad], I would say something.”

“You just start a discussion [in the press conference] about this, then some people will find a reason to say ‘why should Harvey Elliott be there?'”

“Maybe the boy reads it and he feels bad?

If somebody wants to pick him, he has everything you need – he can pack a suitcase in an instant.”

“I will not be part of that discussion.”
