Jurgen Klopp will not take over over the German national team anytime soon after Julian Nagelsmann signed a new deal.

Klopp will leave Liverpool at the end of the season and, after dropping his bombshell exit announcement earlier this year, the German was linked with a number of roles.

That looked to be a realistic option for Klopp, with countryman Nagelsmann set to leave his role when his contract expired after Euro 2024 to take over former club Bayern Munich.

Klopp has already said that he would be open to taking over the German national side(

Speaking before confirming his decision to leave Liverpool, he said: “The job of national coach is and would be a great honour — there’s no question about that.

I can’t just leave Liverpool now and say I’ll take over Germany for a short time.

I want to keep my options open.”

Klopp will now have to wait at least two years if he still harbours ambitions of taking over his national team.
