Arsenal players shared their reaction on social media to an announcement regarding youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly.

Lewis-Skelly enjoyed a breakout campaign at the Emirates last season, breaking into the first team as a left-back under Mikel Arteta’s guidance.

Despite established options in the position, including Riccardo Calafiori and Oleksandr Zinchenko, the Arsenal boss placed his trust in the 18-year-old, who has gone on to establish himself as a regular in the side.

His impressive form earned international recognition too, with Lewis-Skelly handed his England debut by Thomas Tuchel during March’s World Cup qualifiers, where he marked the occasion with a goal against Latvia.

As Arsenal continue their pre-season preparations ahead of the new campaign, the club have announced a nomination for Lewis-Skelly in recognition of his standout season, a moment that drew praise from his teammates across the squad.

In recognition of his breakout campaign at Arsenal, Lewis-Skelly has been nominated for the prestigious Kopa Trophy, an award presented annually to the best young player in the world.

The announcement was met with a wave of support from teammates, with Calafiori, Jurrien Timber and fellow academy product Josh Nichols among those to like the post.

The youngster’s rise to prominence attracted interest with Real Madrid monitoring Lewis-Skelly’s situation earlier in the summer, particularly as he entered the final year of his Arsenal contract.

However, the Gunners acted swiftly to secure his future, with Lewis-Skelly putting pen to paper on a new long-term deal in June.

The 18-year-old made 42 appearances across all competitions last term, contributing three assists and scoring his first senior goal in a Premier League clash against Manchester City.

While one Arsenal academy graduate continues to rise, another looks set to depart North London.

Football Insider revealed that Fulham are close to reaching an agreement with Arsenal to re-sign Reiss Nelson before the transfer window closes.

The Gunners are open to selling the 25-year-old winger, who has just 12 months remaining on his current deal at the Emirates.

Nelson spent last season on loan at Fulham, but his progress was cut short by a hamstring injury in December that ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign.

Back in June 2024, Football Insider also reported that Arsenal were planning a permanent sale of Nelson before he agreed to the loan switch, and it appears the club’s stance has remained unchanged heading into the final stretch of this window.
