Ruben Amorim and Russell Martin have both been found guilty of the same mistake as the duo edge ever closer to the likely axe.

Man United have decided on when they could sack Amorim after just four points in five matches in the Premier League this season.

The Red Devils have been tipped to replicate Sheffield United‘s re-hiring of Chris Wilder as Man United contemplate re-appointing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

In Glasgow, the Rangers boss has also come under fire for a barren run of shocking performances with Rangers fans calling for Barry Ferguson to replace Martin at the Ibrox.

Two of the most stressed out managers in world football are struggling to get out of their ruts as former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino blasted the pair’s stubbornness as their main weakness.

The ex-Aston Villa forward wrote in The Times (16 September) on his astonishment over the rigidness of the Englishman and the Portuguese.

Cascarino slammed the duo’s ignorance of their coaching badges where budding coaches are taught how to set up in multiple systems and solve problems that crop up before, during and after games.

Describing the stiffness of Martin and Amorim as “just madness”, the ex-Republic of Ireland international highlighted how the best managers continue to develop and adapt even when successful.

The flopping bosses have remained adamant that their short-lived successes with Sporting CP and Southampton guarantees them ever-lasting joy which can never be guaranteed in the managerial world.

When comparing the two flailing managers to greats of the game, much can be learnt about the importance of adaptability and responsiveness.

The best example of this is Pep Guardiola who has never relaxed when breezing to victory at Barcelona, Bayern Munich or Man City.

The Spaniard has constantly innovated and kept teams guessing which has contributed to immense success and admiration.

It was only last season where Guardiola was found out due to ageing players and easily exploited tactics which culminated in a trophy-less 2024-25.

However, he has come back again this campaign with new ideas, new personnel and new back-up plans in how to get back to winning ways.

Amorim and Martin should take a leaf out of the book of managerial greats or risk approaching the point of no return in their coaching careers with their reputations badly tarnished.
