Liverpool are on the verge of securing the signature of Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez in a deal worth approximately £45 million, with final negotiations between the clubs expected to conclude this week.
The 21-year-old has already agreed personal terms with the Premier League champions and is keen to make the move to Anfield.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the Hungarian international is the next priority for the Reds after Wirtz, reporting on Tuesday night:
“The next one that’s gonna happen is Milos Kerkez.
So get ready, Liverpool fans!” Romano said.
“Liverpool and Bournemouth have been speaking for weeks.
Liverpool and the agent of Kerkez have been speaking for weeks.
So the next one is going to be Milos Kerkez.”
In a clear indication that Kerkez’s exit is anticipated, Bournemouth have already secured his replacement in French international Adrien Truffert for a reported £14.3m.
The defender left Hungary’s national team camp ahead of their friendlies against Sweden and Azerbaijan, citing “private reasons”.
While the Hungarian FA did not confirm the specific nature of these reasons, the timing coincides perfectly with the intensifying transfer negotiations
Now his Bournemouth teammate, Justin Kluivert, has revealed he expects Kerkez to make the switch to Anfield this summer while speaking on Netherlands duty:
“He’ll probably go there.
I hope so for him,” Kluivert said to Voetbal Primeur.
“He hasn’t really said goodbye yet, but I hope he’ll make it happen there.”
It’s now starting to feel like the worst-kept secret in the transfer window at the moment.
Although the Premier League transfer window is currently in a brief closure period until June 16, this will not prevent Liverpool from completing the deal.
Clubs can still finalize agreements, conduct medicals, and complete all paperwork during this period, with official registration occurring once the window reopens.
Milos Kerkez recently spoke to Hungarian media at the end of May, addressing all the transfer speculation:
“Of course, something always leaks into the news, I don’t know how.
All this doesn’t break me, but it doesn’t ‘boost’ my ego either, but it teaches me humility and motivates me.”
