Bournemouth attacker Justin Kluivert was among the players to react after a long-serving figure at the club has confirmed their exit.

Bournemouth have opened their campaign in mixed fashion, with one win and one defeat in the league, while also crashing out of the Carabao Cup against Brentford.

That inconsistency may be partly down to Andoni Iraola’s indifferent line-ups compared to last term, with Bournemouth undergoing a wave of departures over the summer.

Dean Huijsen returned to Spain with Real Madrid in June, Illia Zabarnyi completed a move to PSG, while more recently Dango Ouattara sealed a transfer to Brentford.

Now, with the transfer window entering its final days, the club have confirmed another exit, bringing an end to 13 years with the south coast side.

Bournemouth have officially confirmed that Philip Billing has left the club to join Danish side FC Midtjylland, bringing an end to a 13-year career spanning Bournemouth and Huddersfield Town.

Several of his former teammates reacted to the news, with Kluivert joined by youngster Alex Scott and Luis Sinisterra among those liking the announcement.

Billing also shared an emotional farewell message to Bournemouth supporters, as he prepares for a return to Denmark following a loan spell at Napoli last season.

The 29-year-old joined the Cherries from Huddersfield in the summer of 2019 and went on to make 201 appearances across all competitions, scoring 31 goals.

He played a key role in Bournemouth’s return to the Premier League in 2021/22, notably providing the assist for Kieffer Moore’s decisive goal that secured promotion.

Now, Billing heads back to his home country, joining the long list of departures from the club this summer.

With Billing’s departure confirmed, another player may be set to leave before the transfer window closes.

Reports suggest Leeds United have shown interest in defender James Hill, who has just one year remaining on his current contract.

The 23-year-old has made only limited appearances under Iraola, coming on for a single minute against Liverpool.
