Liverpool may have finally signed a striker but there is always a chance another comes through the door.
The Reds have now taken their summer spending to over £300m after announcing the signing of Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, with fans hoping he is the answer to their striker curse.
As things stand, Liverpool have two strikers on the books as the Frenchman joins Darwin Nunez as an option to lead the line, although the Uruguayan may not be there very soon.
The 26-year-old has been attracting plenty of interest and he could be moved on if the right offer comes in, especially if Alexander Isak also makes himself available this summer.
Although they have spent big on Ekitike, all the signs suggest that Liverpool will still make a move for the Swede if they think they can pull it off, and it is safe to say they may have been encouraged to keep a close eye on the situation.

It has been the transfer saga of all transfer sagas this summer, but if one thing is for sure, Liverpool are huge admirers of Isak’s.
The 25-year-old’s future never really looked in doubt until this summer, with all the rumours suggesting that he is tempted to make the switch to Anfield.
And, despite only just getting Ekitike through the door, there is a chance that the Swede follows not too far behind, with journalist Ben Jacobs revealing that Liverpool should be encouraged by what is going on right now.

“If you add up Eddie Howe pre-match saying that Isak was simply rested to ease him into pre-season, and Eddie Howe post-match saying that he wasn’t involved due to speculation, then the fact there’s a photograph of Isak training alone – whether or not Newcastle’s position is genuine or not – it’s a perfect storm,” Jacobs said on the Latte Firm YouTube channel.
“So, suitors will feel a little bit encouraged, like if they bid, there might be a way of turning the player’s head.
And if Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz leave Liverpool, there’s still a chance that they place that British transfer record bid.

“There is still a chance and if it doesn’t materialise now, keep an eye on January or next summer because I don’t think this Liverpool and Isak story is over.”
If Newcastle were to sell for whatever reason, the Reds would likely open the bidding at £120m, although this could very easily rise to around £150m depending on the Magpies’ stance.
Signing two strikers in one window for close to £200m may seem preposterous, but Liverpool still have room to accommodate both arrivals.
Sales would also have to happen and the arrivals of Isak would see Nunez surely depart rather swiftly, and so too the likes of Luis Diaz and perhaps even Harvey Elliott due to the fees they would command.
Isak has also been Liverpool’s ‘dream’ signing for quite some time and they know an opportunity like this may never come around again, suggesting that they will do all they can to finally get their hands on him.
