Arsenal star Leandro Trossard and Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva avoided punishment for a heated exchange in Sunday’s clash between the Premier League giants.



On 21 September, Arsenal drew 1-1 with Man City, as Gabriel Martinelli’s late equaliser cancelled out Erling Haaland’s opener.

After Haaland’s opening goal at the Emirates Stadium, the main talking point of the first half arguably arrived when Bernardo Silva threw the ball at Leandro Trossard after a stoppage in play.

Trossard retaliated by throwing the ball back at the Man City man, who had previously received a yellow card.

Speaking on Sky Sports Main Event on 21 September, Gary Neville dubbed Silva ‘stupid’ for the incident, which did not result in a punishment for either player.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the altercation between the Arsenal forward and the Man City midfielder, ex-FIFA referee and former PGMOL chief Keith Hackett said: “Good to see the referee not over react to this playground spat.

Well done to Attwell for remaining calm.”

Arsenal and Man City are now gearing up for their upcoming Carabao Cup ties with Port Vale and Huddersfield Town, respectively.
