Keith Wyness drops verdict on Jim Ratcliffe sacking Ruben Amorim at Man United

Manchester United owner Jim Ratcliffe has been told that he cannot sack current manager Ruben Amorim for one reason.
Amorim is under massive pressure at Old Trafford, after the Red Devils’ poor form from last season has continued into the new campaign.
Man United were beaten 3-0 by rivals Manchester City on Sunday (14 September), leaving them 14th in the Premier League table.
It doesn’t get any easier for the Manchester side either, who welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford this weekend, and a defeat would only increase the calls for Amorim’s departure.
However, Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that if Ratcliffe sacks the Portuguese manager, it would be admitting that he’s got so much wrong and would reflect badly on him.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Ratcliffe must stick with Amorim and has to learn that in football, you have to give people a proper chance.
It was a busy summer transfer window for Man United, who added the likes of Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko, and Bryan Mbeumo to their ranks.

Wyness added that it would cause huge unrest if a new manager came in and didn’t like the signings they have just made.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Well, it’s a complex one, isn’t it?
There are a lot of things at play here, and sacking Amorim would mean Ratcliffe admitting that he’s got so much wrong.
“The new signings, the new recruitment team, investing in Carrington and he’s doing it all under a manager that he would have to be saying, I had no faith in.
“I don’t think Ratcliffe, even Ratcliffe is going to make that decision.
“So I think he’s got to give him a chance to go forward.
“This is where Ratcliffe has now got to learn in football that sometimes you’ve got to stick with the decisions you’ve made and give people a proper chance.
And I think he’s been trying to do that.”
Meanwhile, Harry Maguire could reportedly quit Man United at the end of the season after entering the final year of his current contract.

That is according to their former chief scout, Mick Brown, who claims that Amorim is pushing the 32-year-old out with his tactics.
Man United dismissed enquiries about Maguire during the summer transfer window as he remained a key part of the manager’s plans for the season.
However, he has yet to start a Premier League game this season despite coming off the bench three times in an attempt for Amorim to turn results around.
