Keith Wyness drops verdict on Man United sacking Ruben Amorim

Ruben Amorim has been told that he must replicate the legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson to keep his job.
Amorim is under huge pressure at Old Trafford, after his side continued their poor form from last season into the new campaign.
The situation went from bad to worse on Saturday (27 September), as Man United fell to a 3-1 defeat away at Brentford.
It means the Portuguese boss has won just nine of his 33 Premier League games in charge of the Red Devils, with the calls to sack him getting louder every week.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes there is still hope that Amorim can survive at Old Trafford.
Ferguson was famously one game away from the sack in January 1990, beating Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup to save his job, before going on to become the club’s most decorated manager ever.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that it is possible for Amorim to replicate the Scotsman and turn things around at Man United.

However, Wyness added that there are big, big question marks around the 50-year-old right now, meaning he is just a few bad results away from being sacked.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “We’ll see if they can start to get something going.
“We all know Fergie (Sir Alex Ferguson) was about to get sacked, but he pulled it off and then went on to do great things with United.
“I hope Amorim can do it.
It’s a big dark cloud hanging over Old Trafford at the moment.”
Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed that it would cost Man United around £12m to sack Amorim, due to the compensation fee.

Sources say United are reluctant to spend big on sacking Amorim due to profit and sustainability concerns.
This could mean that the former Sporting Lisbon boss could be given longer to try and turn things around at Old Trafford.
However, if results don’t improve, the hierarchy at United will have no choice but to make a change in the dugout.
