Sir Kenny Dalglish has offered valuable advice to Florian Wirtz, who recently became the British transfer record holder with his £116 million move from Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool. This only the third time Liverpool have broken the British record, following Stan Collymore's 1995 transfer and Dalglish's own 1977 signing from Celtic for £440,000. Dalglish highlighted the importance of Wirtz being himself rather than trying to impersonate others, recalling how he joined Liverpool the year after their European Cup win and focused on staying authentic.
Dalglish told This Is Anfield and The Redmen TV that Wirtz shouldn't expect the same circumstances he experienced but emphasized that anyone moving clubs should simply be themselves, as that is why they are chosen. He recognized the pressures that come with big transfers but maintained that authenticity gives players the best chance for success.

Speaking during Liverpool's preseason tour, Dalglish also expressed confidence in Wirtz's potential and the judgment of Liverpool's technical staff. He mentioned that Wirtz came with excellent references and hoped that by the end of the season, fans and the club would be celebrating positive results. Dalglish's remarks reflect both humility and trust in Liverpool's current process under manager Arie Slot while encouraging Wirtz to embrace his unique qualities on and off the pitch.
