This Premier League season has been one for the history books.
Many stories and memories have been made from yet another scintillating season in England’s top-flight.
A season of shocks and surprises, it has ended with Liverpool being crowned Premier League champions, capping off a brilliant debut season from Arne Slot.
Newcastle United won the Carabao Cup, and whilst it was at the expense of Liverpool, it was their first major trophy in 70 years, a very special moment for the club.
This week, the unthinkable happened again, as Crystal Palace won the FA Cup, their first title ever in English football.
The Eagles beat Manchester City 1-0 thanks to an Eberechi Eze winner, a day that will remembered by Palace fans forever.
Manchester City will now go trophyless this season, as they failed to break down a resolute Crystal Palace defence, led by goalkeeper Dean Henderson who made an impressive six saves during the game.
Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne cut a dejected figure at full-time, as his final season with the Cityzens ends in disappointment.
Liverpool reportedly submitted an offer to sign the Belgian midfielder last week but reports of such an offer were swiftly shut down.
After his side’s FA Cup Final defeat, De Bruyne spoke to Sky Sports and was asked about his future, to which he replied:
“I want to play good football, whatever the decision will be.
I know you’re trying to guess where I’m going to go, but I will make my decision, and you guys will know when I know.”
“I don’t know [whether I’ll stay in the Premier League], it depends on what comes.
I have young kids I have to take care of, it’s a decision that has to suit all of us, not just me.”
“When I’m 20 years old and all by myself, I can make a decision, that is very easy.
But now it’s a bit more complex.”
He then dropped a transfer hint that could grab the attention of Liverpool fans.
When asked whether discussions had taken place with City’s rivals in the Premier League, his answer was simple – “Yes of course.”
It will be fascinating to see where De Bruyne decides to play his football next season, but with talks taking place with City’s rivals, a move to Liverpool cannot be ruled out.
