Crystal Palace are eyeing up a move for Bournemouth attacker David Brooks as they look to replace Eberechi Eze following his recent move to Arsenal.
Crystal Palace are looking to add some much-needed firepower and quality to their ranks after the England playmaker departed the club to join their capital rivals.
Tottenham fans thought they had a deal for Eze wrapped up after personal terms had been agreed with his camp.
But Arsenal dramatically hijacked Tottenham’s move for Eze just a day later, and his £67.5million [Sky Sports] move to the Emirates Stadium was confirmed on Saturday (23 August).
Palace have been linked to a number of attacking midfielders, both prior to and since Eze’s transfer, with Football Insider recently revealing that Leicester City’s Bilal El-Khannouss is a top target for the Eagles.
Villarreal star Yeremy Pino is also on Oliver Glasner’s radar, with the window set to close in less than a week’s time, and they are now also reportedly after a player who is a little more familiar with the Premier League.

According to a new report from talkSPORT (26 August), Palace have added Bournemouth winger Brooks to their list of targets to replace Eze.

The Wales international is into the final year of his Cherries contract, and the club are now believed to be weighing up whether to offer him an extension or potentially cash in.
It is also stated that the Eagles’ incoming director of football, Matt Hobbs, is a big admirer of Brooks, and so he could seemingly have a big say on whether they pursue a move for the 28-year-old.
Football Insider verdict
Palace have lost a huge influence and their main attacking threat in Eze, and with boss Glasner already known to be unhappy at the club’s summer business, they now need to accelerate moves for new signings no matter the potential cost.
Brooks would be a smart and relatively low-risk buy, as he has a lot of top-flight experience and has shone at Bournemouth over recent seasons, but is also unlikely to contribute enough to be a sole replacement for the new Arsenal man.

With Palace after the likes of Pino and El Khannouss, they need to make sure that at least one of those players also comes through the Selhurst Park door, as well as someone like Brooks, so that their depth is adequate for the season ahead.
Not only is the end of the window approaching, but they also have a huge Conference League play-off second-leg tie to take on against Frederikstad on Thursday (28 August), and having fresh faces in before that game would also be ideal as they seek to qualify for the league stage with no qualms.
