On Tuesday, Liverpool will face Southampton with rotation expected after Arne Slot dropped a hint regarding the team following the Merseyside Derby.
In response to whether the five players who have played ninety minutes three times in the last week will feature against Southampton, Arne Slot said:
“I can tell you now, you won’t be seeing them on Tuesday.”
So, don’t expect any minutes for Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch on Tuesday.
Whilst it is expected that most of the first-team regulars will sit out the first round of the Carabao Cup for Liverpool, it presents opportunities to the youngsters to impress once again.
Jayden Danns and Trey Nyoni have been deployed sporadically under Arne Slot’s management so far, and Lewis Bower has now dropped a selection hint that may suggest further involvement for the pair next week.
Liverpool U21s are facing Manchester United U21s this afternoon.

“No Kieran Morrison, Tommy Pilling, Jayden Danns or Trey Nyoni for Liverpool U21s today.
This could and I’d say, probably does, hint towards first-team involvement on Tuesday.”
Exciting news for the youngsters, who will be wanting to make their mark on what looks to be another successful campaign for Liverpool after their strong start.
Arne Slot’s players have won their first five Premier League games of the season for just the third time and many of the youngsters will be hoping to break into the first-team squad to experience some of that success for themselves.
As touched on previously, significant rotation is expected by Arne Slot on Tuesday, and with Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk set to be rested, Bower has also given us an insight in to how Liverpool’s backline could shape up.

Giovanni Leoni is in line to make his Liverpool debut.
The 18-year-old defender signed from Parma for £26m this summer but is yet to see competitive action in a Reds shirt.
