Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has shown support for his Georgian teammate Giorgi Mamardashvili after he finally finalised his move to Liverpool.
Mamardashvili made his unofficial debut for the Reds with a 45-minute outing during Sunday’s pre-season friendly against Preston North End as Arne Slot’s side secured a 3-1 win over the Championship side.
The 24-year-old officially arrived at the Premier League champions earlier this month from La Liga side Valencia, having initially agreed the switch to Anfield last summer.
On Monday, Mamardashvili spoke for the first time as he expressed his excitement to join the Reds,
“I am happy, I am very excited to be here,” the 24-year-old Mamardashvili told the official Liverpool website.
“It’s a huge moment for me because joining a club like Liverpool, it’s not only a transfer, it’s a dream come true for me.
“I feel ready, motivated and proud.
I watched all the games with a different feeling, like I was already part of the team.
“I will never forget this day – when I signed a contract with Liverpool.
So many messages I received and everyone was so happy and excited.”
He added: “Yeah, the first time in front of Liverpool fans, it was a really proud moment in my life and it gave me real motivation to keep improving, keep developing and give everything for this club.
“I know and I think everybody knows this club has big ambitions and I want to be part of such [a] journey.”
Liverpool shared snippets from his interview across their social media channels, and the goalkeeper received support from current and former players.
Kvaratskhelia, who was a target for Liverpool in the January transfer window before he completed a move to PSG, liked the post from the Reds’ social media channel.
