Kieran Maguire: Liverpool delighted as private deal struck - 'They've wanted this for years'
Liverpool will be delighted that they are able to sell their own rights privately in pre-season without having to go through Uefa or the Premier League.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Merseysiders’ Bangkok showdown with Man United in July.
Sport Business reported on Monday (9 May) that a deal has been struck for IMG to produce and broadcast the friendly internationally.
In other news, Liverpool plan signings blizzard as Fabio Carvalho announcement imminent.
“I think the value of these rights will give added ammunition to the likes of Liverpool and United,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
Maguire claims that both clubs have “wanted to sell their own rights for years” and will use the opportunity to squeeze as much cash as possible from the fixture.
Liverpool announced on 31 March that the two rivals would face off in the Rajamangala Stadium as part of the Bangkok Century Cup.
