Kieran Tierney will prove to be a bargain £25million addition for Arsenal according to the former Gunners forward John Hartson, who says that the left-back is a better defender than his fellow Scot Andy Robertson.

“People talk about Andy Robertson.

I would say at this moment in time he has better delivery but Kieran is a better defensive player,” the former Celtic and Wales forward told the Daily Record.

Tierney asked not to be selected for the Scotland squad for the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against Russia and San Marino as he bids to find full fitness for the Gunners, but Hartson says he'll make a big impact once he's up to speed.

"Arsenal probably got him on the cheap if you look at the fact Manchester United paid £50million for Aaron Wan-Bissaka," he continued.

“Celtic could have held out for another £5million or so but it is still good money they have banked, especially due to the fact he has come through the ranks and hasn’t cost the club a penny.

“Also, average players are going for £30million or £40million and Kieran is certainly not average.
