Newcastle players were active on social media after news broke that a teammate had departed the club ahead of the new campaign.

It’s been a turbulent summer for the Magpies, marked by transfer frustrations, missed opportunities, and speculation surrounding key players.

Striker targets including Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Hugo Ekitike have all chosen moves elsewhere, while star forward Alexander Isak has made it clear he wishes to leave Newcastle amid an approach from Liverpool.

Despite these setbacks, they have still added quality to their ranks, with Newcastle bringing in Anthony Elanga, Aaron Ramsdale and Malick Thiaw.

However, with fresh arrivals comes the need to balance the books, and the club have now confirmed the exit of one of their players as preparations for the new season continue.

Newcastle have confirmed that Odysseas Vlachodimos has joined Sevilla on a season-long loan, with the announcement made via the club’s official Instagram account.

The post drew reactions from several of his teammates, with Kieran Trippier, Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes all liking the update.

Vlachodimos only arrived at St James’ Park last summer from Nottingham Forest but made just one appearance for the Magpies during the campaign.

His move was shrouded in controversy at the time, as Vlachodimos was not directly scouted by Newcastle but instead arrived as part of a deal that saw Elliott Anderson head to Forest.

That arrangement sparked speculation that both Newcastle and Nottingham Forest had struck the agreement to help manage PSR compliance and avoid potential sanctions.

His departure just a year later has only fuelled those claims.

He becomes the second goalkeeper to leave the club this summer, following Martin Dubravka’s switch to Burnley.

However, with the arrival of Ramsdale, Newcastle have already bolstered their options between the sticks.

With further exits expected and uncertainty surrounding Isak’s future, Newcastle are preparing to reinforce their attacking line.

Football Insider revealed Newcastle are ready to table an offer for Porto forward Samu Aghehowa as they seek a new striker.

The 21-year-old is understood to be content at Porto, but Howe’s side remain determined to secure attacking reinforcements after suffering a string of setbacks in pursuit of other targets.

Newcastle showed interest in Aghehowa earlier in the window, and efforts to land the young forward could accelerate in the final weeks of the transfer period.
