Newcastle players rallied around their latest signing with a passionate show of support after his move to Tyneside was confirmed.

The Magpies’ summer transfer window has been far from straightforward, with several key targets opting for moves elsewhere.

Football Insider revealed that Benjamin Sesko chose Manchester United over Newcastle, while both Joao Pedro and Liam Delap decided to join Chelsea instead of Tyneside.

Despite those setbacks, the club have managed to bring in some notable additions, including Anthony Elanga and Aaron Ramsdale.

Earlier this week, Newcastle also confirmed the signing of defender Malick Thiaw, and the new arrival has since shared his message to the fans following the announcement.

Following the official confirmation of his signing, Thiaw shared a passionate and heartfelt message to Newcastle supporters on Instagram

He captioned his post with: “I am so excited to be part of a community that lives and breathes the game.

Plenty of players across the football world reacted, with former teammate Fikayo Tomori commenting: “All the best my brother.” His new teammates Sandro Tonali, Kieran Trippier and Joe Willock also showed their support by liking the post.

The Magpies had been targeting a number of centre-halves this summer in a bid to improve their defence.

Football Insider revealed Newcastle had initially focused on Marc Guehi, but with the defender having his heart set on a move to Liverpool, they pivoted to Thiaw.

The German centre-back was a key figure for AC Milan last season, making 31 appearances as the Serie A side finished eighth.

Despite multiple setbacks in the market this summer, Newcastle finally look close to securing an attacking addition.

Football Insider revealed that Newcastle’s move for Yoane Wissa is edging closer after Brentford agreed a deal to sign Dango Ouattara as his replacement.

Brentford had been reluctant to part ways with Wissa following the earlier departure of Bryan Mbeumo, but Ouattara’s imminent arrival is expected to clear the way for the transfer.
