Jurgen Klopp took advantage of the fact that Liverpool's senior and junior set-ups are now on the same site by taking in the Reds under-23s' clash against Southampton on Saturday.

Will Liverpool win the Premier League?

Liverpool's first-team have moved from their Melwood training ground into their new AXA Training Centre in Kirkby, which used to just house the club's youth sides.

Klopp could be seen keeping a close eye on the game in Kirkby, with centre-back Sepp van den Berg starting as the young Reds shut out the Saints.

Right now it is defenders who are on the Liverpool manager's mind as he faces up to the prospect of being without both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez for the rest of the season, and on Saturday he saw the Reds youngsters keep a clean sheet in their goalless Premier League 2 draw with Southampton.

One of the benefits of the move is said to be the fact that the senior and youth sides can now be linked, allowing players to move between the teams more freely and for Klopp to be able to keep an eye on any young talents he could use in his team.

Nat Phillips looks set to be involved in the squad to face Leicester City in the Premier League at Anfield on Sunday, although the returning Fabinho seems set to partner Joel Matip in the centre of defence.
