Burnley defender Kyle Walker shared a new message on social media after his exclusion from the England set-up.

Walker made the move to Burnley earlier in the summer window following his fallout with Pep Guardiola back in January.

It was revealed to Football Insider by former financial advisor Stefan Borson that Walker took a pay cut to leave Man City, especially after Guardiola made it clear the experienced defender was no longer part of his long-term plans.

After an unsuccessful loan with Milan last term, newly-promoted Burnley made the ambitious move to sign the right-back.

Despite his reputation, he has had a poor start and has struggled to find form during the early weeks of the campaign.

With the international break now underway, Thomas Tuchel opted not to include the full-back in his latest England squad, with Walker sharing an update on his current focus instead.

Despite featuring in England’s defeat to Senegal back in June, Walker has not been selected for the latest squad and remains in training with Burnley instead.

He posted on Instagram with multiple photos from Burnley’s latest training session, as they prepare to face Liverpool on 14 September.

Instead, Tuchel has called up Djed Spence for the first time, as well as Tino Livramento and Reece James to fill the right-back slots.

As for Walker, he has had a tough 12 months in the lead-up to his exit from Man City.

He spent eight years at the club, lifting an incredible 17 trophies during his time in Manchester, including six Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2023.

However, the 35-year-old’s best days appear to be behind him, with Tuchel favouring younger and more dynamic profiles in the position.

Burnley had seen many arrivals and exits this summer, with captain Josh Brownhill deciding against signing a new deal.

Football Insider revealed that Brownhill has agreed to join Saudi club Al Shabab, despite interest from Leeds, Wolves and Leicester in his signature.

He made 42 league appearances for Burnley last season, scoring 18 goals before deciding to move on upon the expiry of his contract, despite their promotion to the Premier League.
