Kylian Mbappe has admitted he is a big fan of Florian Wirtz as Liverpool remain in talks with Bayer Leverkusen over a club-record deal.

The Reds made an improved offer worth an overall £113m on Friday as they look to close in on a deal for Wirtz.

The 22-year-old is currently away on international duty with Germany as they compete in the Nations League finals.

He opened the scoring in their semi-final clash with Portugal on Wednesday night before they fell to a 2-1 defeat.

Germany will now face France in the third place play-off today (Sunday, June 8) as Wirtz prepares to lock horns with Mbappe and Co.

And the Real Madrid superstar has reacted to Wirtz’s potential move to Liverpool as he shared his admiration for the attacking midfielder.

“He is a top talent and I think Germany can consider itself lucky to have a player like him,” Mbappe said.

But he’s a really good player.”

Meanwhile, Mbappe also thinks France team-mate Ousmane Dembele should win this year’s Ballon d’Or.

Dembele has shone for Paris Saint-Germain following Mbappe’s move to Real Madrid and was their star man as they won this season’s Champions League.

The forward scored 33 goals and registered 15 assists - including two in their 5-0 thrashing of Inter Milan in the Champions League final - from 49 appearances in all competitions as PSG won the treble.

Mohamed Salah had been an early favourite to win the prize with the Egyptian enjoying a remarkable year for Liverpool as they won the Premier League title.

The 32-year-old returned 34 goals and 23 assists from 52 appearances for the Reds.

However, he was unable to help Liverpool progress in the Champions League as they were knocked out by PSG in the round-of-16 on penalties after Dembele scored the only goal in the second leg at Anfield to level the scores on aggregate.

And, unsurprisingly, Mbappe overlooked Salah in favour of his international team-mate when picking who he thought should win this season’s Ballon d’Or.

"Would I vote for Dembele?

Is it September?

“A lot will happen between now and then, but today we're talking about Ousmane and Lamine.
