‘Lame’ - Dion Dublin blasts ‘weak’ Manchester United after embarrassing defeat to Manchester City

Sun 14 September 2025 20:30, UK

Dion Dublin has slammed Manchester United for their shambolic display against Manchester City as they were thrashed 3-0.

The international break was clearly much needed for the Cityzens as Erling Haaland record-breaking brace for Man City against Man United gave Pep Guardiola a massive three points.

Star striker Haaland netted five goals for Norway against Moldova on international duty and he has picked off from where he left off with his nation.

For the Red Devils, their woes continue as Man United manager Ruben Amorim continues to be branded a “shambles” by fans.

Ex-Aston Villa frontman Dublin gave his strikingly honest response to what was a horrendous performance from the Portuguese’s side.

From pretty much the first minute of the game, the Red Devils looked weak and feeble as Guardiola’s unit hounded them for the whole match.

In the aftermath of the appalling showing from Amorim’s side, the footballer turned pundit gave a devastating review of United’s performance.

Dublin ripped apart the red half of Manchester, saying (BBC Radio Radio 5 Live, 14 September 6.24pm): “Lame sums up United today.

United have got a lot of work to do on the training ground.”

During his United tenure, the Portuguese has been under constant criticism which has seen various links to losing his job.

Old Trafford has quickly become a poisoned chalice for any manager who dare drink from the cup since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Amorim is almost certainly on track to joining the cohorts of failed bosses since the Scots exit and fans continue to grow tired of his lacklustre tactics and performances.

Yet, when turning our attention to the managerial market there really aren’t any outstanding options that could do a better job than the former Sporting CP boss.

Jose Mourinho could come back to have another attempt to bring United back to the glory days but his archaic football will likely not be seen again.

Therefore, Sir Jim Ratcliffe will definitely have to ride out the storm in Manchester as he scrambles to find a replacement manager to resurrect a dying club.
