Wolves have turned down a huge bid for Jorgen Strand Larsen from Newcastle as they seek to finalise an Alexander Isak replacement.

The major talking point of the summer has been over the ongoing situation at St James’ Park amid the links between Isak and Liverpool.

Reportedly, Isak said he would never play for Newcastle again as he looks to push for a move to Anfield as the transfer window edges closer to ending.

Former Southampton striker Matt Le Tissier exclusively told Football Insider that Newcastle’s valuation of £150million for Isak is not worth it, as the Magpies maintain a firm stance on only selling him for the right price.

Wolves frontman Strand Larsen has been targeted as a potential replacement for the number 14, yet Le Tissier is equally not convinced he’s worth the reported £50m offered (Sky Sports).

Although the ex-England international may need to reconsider his opinion given the former Celta Vigo forward single-handedly saved Vitor Pereira’s night with a match-winning brace in the EFL Cup against West Ham.

After losing Matheus Cunha to Man United in the opening stages of the transfer window, the Wanderers are aiming to hold on to their Norwegian striker.

The 25-year-old notched 14 goals in 35 Premier League appearances last season, yet Le Tissier feels the number nine is not a £50m forward, intrigued as to why Wolves turned down the offer from the Magpies.

He said: “Now, they [Newcastle] bid £50m for Strand Larsen of Wolves.

Now, I think that’s incredibly overpriced quite frankly and I’m surprised Wolves turned it down.

“I don’t think he’s a £50m player right at this point.

So, it’s going to be interesting.”

Whilst the Wanderers remain firm on their position with Strand Larsen, one player who desperately wants to leave their club is Yoane Wissa.

The Congolese forward is unhappy with his current situation with the Bees with sources telling Football Insider that if Newcastle offer £50m for Wissa from Brentford it would be accepted.

The 28-year-old has one-year left on his contract and is hell-bent on playing Champions League football this season.

Crucially, the Toon can offer this proposition and could redirect their attention to the number 11 in the coming days of the transfer window.
