GO DEEPER: LeBron James' $1bn landmark could open doors at FSG and Liverpool

NBA legend LeBron James is ready to buy a basketball franchise in Las Vegas when he retires.

According to the ECHO, he intends to bring basketball to the Nevada region with the help of Liverpool owners FSG, who are looking for an exit strategy at Anfield.

James owned shares in Liverpool for over a decade, but exchanged them earlier this year for a one per cent stake in FSG ownership.

Las Vegas currently lacks an NBA team, and while the opportunity to buy The Phoenix Suns presents an opportunity, it’s thought that James and FSG would like to start a new franchise from scratch, and primarily in Vegas.

It’s likely that a combination of James, FSG, Nike and RedBird could all combine to bring a team to the place known as ‘Sin City’ in the coming years.
