A leaked email from Liverpool Football Club has revealed that they have delayed several internal staff celebrations of their Premier League title victory, following a tragic incident where a car collided with fans during their parade.

The club had organised various events for staff to commemorate their success, but these have now been put on hold as the focus shifts to supporting the victims and those impacted.

During the celebratory parade on Water Street this Monday, a vehicle struck supporters, resulting in 27 individuals, including four children, being taken to hospital urgently.

Authorities are not treating the distressing event as an act of terrorism, instead considering it an isolated incident.

The BBC has obtained an internal email which notified staff that the club "will continue to offer our full support to the emergency services and local authorities" and called upon staff "to come together at this time to support each other", following the decision to postpone Tuesday's planned festivities.

This development follows an ill-timed social media update from Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah, who uploaded an image of himself smooching the Premier League trophy just two hours after the vehicle had careered into the crowd downtown.

He has since removed the post from X.

Dave Kitchin from the North West Ambulance Service confirmed during a late-night press briefing that 27 individuals had been transported to hospital by ambulance.

"We can confirm that our teams treated 20 patients at the scene for minor injuries and these did not need hospital treatment," he stated.

"Twenty-seven patients in total were taken to hospital by ambulance and we believe two of those, including one of the children, have sustained serious injuries."

Liverpool City Region Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram provided an update on Tuesday morning, confirming that four people are currently "very ill" in hospital.

We're in liaison with the police and with the ambulance services.

He remarked: "The scenes in Liverpool are appalling - my thoughts are with all those injured or affected.
