Transitions are never easy, especially for young players trying to find their feet abroad.
When a familiar face is part of the move, it helps ease the pressure.
That was the case for Bobby Clark when he left Liverpool for Red Bull Salzburg.
It was a big decision.
One that offered a chance to grow, take on a new challenge, and learn under someone he already trusted.
But football changes fast.
And what seemed like a perfect fit can quickly become complicated.
That’s what Bobby is dealing with now in Austria.
His dad, Lee Clark, has opened up about how things have changed since Pep Lijnders was sacked as Salzburg head coach.
“It has been hard, the manager he went and signed for in Pepijn Lijnders lost his job so it was the first time Bobby experienced that,” he told the Chronicle.
Clark had started 11 games under Lijnders.
Lee Clark admitted that it affected his son: “In a short space of time as a young professional, he has experienced a lot of ups and downs.
It has been a terrific move for him, both for learning and exposure he’s had.”
Despite the coaching change, Lee says Bobby is doing well in Austria.
Salzburg are trying to win the league, which is always their aim, if not to get into Champions League again.”
As for what’s next, Lee left the door open.
