Liverpool’s attention will turn to Sunday’s Community Shield clash against Crystal Palace as they gear up for the new season.
However, much of the conversation remains centred on the transfer window and the Reds’ continued pursuit of Alexander Isak.
The Swedish striker returned to England this week after training with his former club, Real Sociedad, while his Newcastle United teammates were away on their pre-season tour.
Liverpool have already seen an offer for the 25-year-old turned down, though Isak is reportedly keen on a move.
Isak will once again not feature for Newcastle in the upcoming pre-season games against Espanyol and Atletico Madrid.
It is understood that Newcastle would need to secure a replacement and receive a satisfactory bid before sanctioning a sale.
Benjamin Sesko was seen as a potential successor to Isak at St James’ Park, and Newcastle had a second bid accepted for the Slovenian forward.
However, they now face stiff competition from Manchester United, with reports suggesting the 22-year-old prefers a move to Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, as Liverpool look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign, several of their own players continue to be linked with moves away from Anfield.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool youngster Ben Doak is attracting interest from newly promoted Premier League club Leeds United.
The Reds turned down offers around £20million for the 19-year-old in January.
The club value him around the same amount now, and if they do not receive an offer in that range, they are happy to retain Ben Doak as a squad option for the 2025/26 season.
Leeds United are meanwhile continuing to pursue full-backs, No?
10s, wingers, and strikers.
