Leeds United’s appeal over Pascal Struijk’s red card against Liverpool has been rejected by The FA.

Struijk’s tackle on Harvey Elliott led to the Reds youngster dislocating his ankle and being taken to hospital, eventually having surgery on the problem.

Struijk was dealt a straight red card, although after the match Elliott accepted the Leeds man’s apology and insisted he wasn’t at fault for his injury and shouldn’t have been sent off.

Leeds appealed the decision, but it has been upheld by The FA, meaning Struijk will now serve a three-match ban.

With the appeal having being unsuccessful, Strujik will now be suspended for Leeds’ game at Newcastle on Friday, the Carabao Cup tie at Fulham four days later and the home clash with West Ham the following Saturday.
