Leeds United’s attempts to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have taken a blow as the Premier League club face stiff competition for his signature.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is currently a free agent following his release from Turkish club Besiktas, after spells in the Premier League with Liverpool and Arsenal where he won the title at the former.
Leeds are exploring a move for Oxlade-Chamberlain, as Daniel Farke looks to add greater Premier League experience to his side.
According to The Mirror [18 August], Birmingham City are set to launch an ambitious attempt to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain.
They took the League One title at a canter last season and have started the new Championship campaign with two wins from two matches and progressed in the League Cup with victory over Sheffield United.

Birmingham have previously spent £15million to sign striker Jay Stansfield, and this summer they have acquired the likes of former Celtic striker Kyogo and former Leicester and Everton winger Demarai Gray.
Farke has been busy in the transfer market.

Calvert-Lewin has also had injury concerns in the past couple of seasons which will be the only worry for supporters.
Birmingham City may have financial power and big ambitions, but Leeds’ Premier League status should help them secure the signing, should they wish to pursue a deal.
Daniel Farke will learn more about his squad once their first Premier League match with Everton has concluded.
Defensively, Leeds looked to have added well and could prove to be a tough team to break down, especially at Elland Road.
