Leeds United are continuing their search for a new midfielder, and a former Premier League star has emerged as a target amid a Josh Brownhill update.

Daniel Farke has been active in the market in preparation for Leeds’ top flight return after two seasons in the Championship.

Leeds will travel to face AC Milan in Dublin before the Premier League season begins against Everton, with a new face potentially in the squad for the Toffees fixture.

Oxlade-Chamberlain could make a surprise return to the Premier League.

According to The Sun [August 5] Leeds United are interested in signing free agent Oxlade-Chamberlain to their new look Premier League squad.

The Whites were looking at Burnley midfielder Brownhill, another free agent, but West Ham were the favourites in that race and now the Hammers have been given the green light to sign the 29-year-old.

Oxlade Chamberlain has played in Turkey for the past two seasons after previous spells in England with Liverpool and Arsenal.

The 31-year-old is a Premier League title winner but has struggled with injuries during his career.

The move, although he is a free agent, may be a risk considering Oxlade-Chamberlain’s lack of football over the past season.

Brownhill therefore seems a safer option following the former Burnley captain’s standout season in the Championship, but West Ham will now look to secure that deal following these developments.

A Manor Salomon return has yet to materialise from Spurs, and with an injury to James Maddison, the attacking midfielder may now not be allowed to leave.
