Leeds United could ramp up their efforts to sign Everton striker Beto due to Daniel Farke’s limited striker options after multiple departures.
Leeds marched on to the Championship title last season in superb form, as Daniel Farke’s side picked up 100 points across the campaign to return to the Premier League at the second time of asking.
Their step-up to the top-flight is set to be a challenging one, but the Whites have moved to seal the free signing of Wolfsburg forward Lukas Nmecha to bolster the squad, and more arrivals are expected in the coming weeks as Football Insider understand Farke has £150million to splash this summer.

Nmecha will provide competition to last season’s second-tier top-scorer Joel Piroe, but beyond that pair, Leeds are struggling for options in attack with more firepower needed if they are to give themselves the best chance of survival.
Patrick Bamford has been told that he is not part of Farke’s plans, while the Whites have recently let two of their young forwards leave on loan, and so a move for Beto could be on the horizon with the new season just a week away.
Neither Mateo Joseph nor Joe Gelhardt were able to make much of an impact on the Whites’ promotion push last term, with the former scoring just three goals in 39 league appearances for Leeds, while the latter played just three times before being loaned to Hull City in January.
Joseph has been pushing for an Elland Road exit all summer, and Leeds confirmed his departure on X on 9 August, saying: “(LUFC) can confirm Mateo Joseph has joined Mallorca on a season-long loan deal.”

Leeds later announced Gelhardt’s loan exit to Hull once again [Leeds], which now leaves them with just Piroe and Nmecha as realistic options, with Bamford also nearing the exit door.
Former scout Mick Brown told Football Insider back in May that Everton striker Beto was on Leeds’ shortlist of targets following promotion after the Toffees forward netted eight top-flight goals last term.
He has stayed put for now, but Brown also revealed to Football Insider last month that Everton still plan to accept offers of £25million for Beto this summer, and so Leeds should have a clear path to his signature if they are willing to spend such a fee.
The Whites need to push for his signature, as he has already proven his quality and reliability in the top-flight with the Toffees, while Piroe and Nmecha are new to playing in the league and each could struggle with the physicality and intensity compared to the Championship and the Bundesliga.

Beto will not, as his burly frame allows him to dominate opposition centre-backs, while he is also a standout at linking up the play and holding up the ball, which is ideal for Leeds as the majority of their best play comes from wide players being brought into the game in central areas.
It seems like a no-brainer for Farke to now pursue the 27-year-old, but the Whites will need to get a move on with the new campaign approaching and other clubs across Europe also interested in Beto’s services.
It is pretty obvious what type of striker Farke wants to bring in this summer amid links to Beto, Mitrovic and Inter’s Mehdi Taremi, with each player known for their strength and power as well as finishing ability.
Taremi is 33-years-old now, and despite boasting stellar international and European experience, signing him would feel like a waste given how Leeds want to, not only stay up this season, but then build and become an established top-flight side once more in the years to come.

Former Whites goalkeeper Paul Robinson recently told Football Insider that the door is now open for Leeds to swoop for Al-Hilal’s Mitrovic as Darwin Nunez closes in on joining the Saudi side.
Farke should resist such a move in favour of attempting to sign Beto, however, as he is a much more sensible option at 27-years-old compared to the 30-year-old Serbian international, and he is set to be much more prepared for Premier League football instantly, having been playing in the league for the last two years.
