Liverpool are closing in on a second Premier League title

Liverpool have been the best team in the country, and if they can inflict a ninth straight home league defeat on the Foxes, the title will be nearly in their grasp.

However, they could even be crowned champions with a win if Arsenal lose to Ipswich on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Leicester managed to end their losing run last weekend with a spirited draw against Brighton & Hove Albion.

But they haven't won in the Premier League since a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur earlier this year.

After Mohamed Salah signed a new contract to keep him at Anfield for two years, it has been confirmed that Virgil van Dijk is following.

The Dutchman officially put pen to paper on a new deal earlier this week.

Van Dijk's contract hasn't seen him take a pay cut.

Instead, he will be on roughly the same wages as Salah, and Slot has managed to keep two vital players at the club.

Van Dijk has enjoyed an excellent season for the Reds and looks to be able to play at the top of the Premier League for a while yet.

Van Dijk put pen to paper on a new contractLeicester have won just two of their last 13 Premier League games against Liverpool (D1 L10), with both these wins coming consecutively at home in 2021 (3-1 in February, 1-0 in December).Liverpool have won their last four Premier League games against Leicester, while they’ve only failed to score in one of their last 15 against the Foxes in the league, a 0-1 loss in December 2021.Leicester have lost both of their league games played on Easter Sunday, going down 0-3 at West Ham in the second tier in 1993, and 1-2 at Newcastle in the Premier League in 2022.

The Foxes will be able to welcome Facundo Buonanotte back to their squad after he was ineligible to face Brighton.

The forward is on loan from the Seagulls, so Ruud van Nistelrooy was unable to select him.

Wout Faes and 15-year-old Jeremy Monga are doubtful, while Harry Winks remains absent due to an ongoing disciplinary matter.

For Liverpool, Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to play some part.

The England international has been out with a foot problem, but he's trained.

Darwin Nunez has been struggling with illness, but he is expected to be available.
