Leeds United captain Liam Cooper feels the Football Association has "let down" Pascal Struijk and the Whites following their decision to uphold his three-match ban.

I think the authorities have maybe let Pascal down a little bit.

The Dutchman was shown a straight red card by referee Craig Pawson following the challenge on Harvey Elliott which left the 18-year-old with a dislocated ankle.

"He's started the season unbelievably, he's taken to the role unbelievably and he's done well for us this season and to lose him for three games is disappointing.

"In my eyes, it's a freak accident I think Harvey Elliott has obviously came out and said the same on his social media and it is a freak accident.

The former-Blackburn loanee becomes the first casualty of Liverpool's season after impressing in the opening games of his Premier League career "It's a tough one, I spoke to Pasc after the game I sent him a little message," the Leeds captain told BBC Sport West Yorkshire.

"I think we've been let down a little bit but we move on, we adapt and we'll have to deal with it and we've lost Pascal for three games now and that's how it is and we have to adapt and we will do that."
