Liverpool look almost certain to make another attacking signing before the end of the transfer window.
The Reds have already done big business in forward areas, with Hugo Ekitike arriving and Florian Wirtz joining as an attacking midfielder.
But with Luis Diaz leaving and Darwin Nunez on the verge of joining Al Hilal, Liverpool still look a little short.
Nunez’s move took a big step forward on Wednesday, leaving a pervading feeling that Liverpool would not allow him to depart if they weren’t confident of a replacement coming in.
Throughout the summer, the Uruguayan’s successor has felt likely to come in the shape of Alexander Isak.
However, with Newcastle causing complications on that front, rumours have begun arriving that PSG’s Bradley Barcola could be a target for Arne Slot instead.
With Reds fans growing excited at the prospect of Isak and Barcola arriving together, journalist Fabrizio Romano has clarified whether Liverpool could actually sign them both.

Time is quickly starting to tick by in the transfer market.
There is now just over three weeks left for the Liverpool squad to be finalised.
Another forward addition is vital, but according to Romano, it will likely be Isak or Barcola not both of them.

“The Isak deal is absolutely still alive,” the transfer expert told his YouTube channel on Wednesday evening.
“In case the Isak deal doesn’t happen, because Newcastle decide to close their doors and not proceed with this one, Bradley Barcola is the dream option in terms of wingers.
For Liverpool the striker option is Isak, If they can’t get Isak, there is the possibility to go for a winger and Barcola is seen as a dream target internally.”

“As of today, Liverpool have not made contact with the agent, Liverpool have not contacted PSG, Liverpool are not negotiating for Barcola, Liverpool have not made a bid for Barcola,” Romano adds.
“So, Isak, let’s be clear, remains way more advanced and remains the priority.
If Newcastle close the doors, an attempt on Barcola could be made before the end of the window.”
Although some supporters were getting excited at Liverpool potentially pulling off a crazy, expensive double swoop with Isak and Barcola, that looks unlikely to happen.
And, adding to Romano’s clarification, journalist James Pearce played down the chances of Liverpool making any kind of move for the PSG wide man.
“Liverpool rate Bradley Barcola highly but pursuing someone of his profile would act as a pathway blocker for talented teenager Rio Ngumoha, who has enjoyed an outstanding pre-season for Arne Slot’s side,” Pearce wrote in The Athletic on Wednesday.
“Liverpool don’t want to do anything to block Ngumoha’s progression.”
With the 16-year-old one step closer to the first team following Diaz’s exit, it would seem counterintuitive to add another big blocker in his way.
Isak is rightly still the priority.
