News outlet Jornal de Notícias has claimed today that as well as 20-year-old Ivorian defender Ousmane Diomande, Liverpool is also looking at 22-year-old Gonçalo Inácio.

According to the report, Liverpool is considering players to buy in the eventually that Amorim takes over and wants to play a back three — neither of which is certain right now.

The Sporting number 25 has been linked with a move to Anfield many times before.

Liverpool.com says: While it is inevitable that if Amorim becomes the replacement for Klopp, Sporting players will be linked with moves to Anfield, the Reds will not base any decisions ahead of the summer on who the next manager knows well.

Only their suitability for making the Liverpool squad better will be considered.

It is clear that signing another center-back should be a priority for Liverpool given that Joël Matip is out of contract this summer but there is a question mark over who that should be.

Given Ibrahima Konaté's injury history, there is probably an argument for bringing in another right-sided center-back as well to be able to cover for him and ensure he doesn't have to play too often.

And then, of course, there is the impact of the formation that whoever takes over at Liverpool might want to play.
