Liverpool will reportedly only demand a "modest fee" to let Andy Robertson depart the club this summer after the defender emerged as a leading target for Atletico Madrid.

The 31-year-old has 12 months remaining on his current deal with the Reds and is set to face increased competition for his place in the starting XI next season as the Premier League champions pursue a move for Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez.

On Saturday, the ECHO reported that the La Liga outfit, who have recruited seasoned Premier League full-backs Kieran Trippier, Matt Doherty and Filipe Luis in recent years, are eyeing a shock move for the Scotland international.

Reports on Saturday added that Robertson is keen on a move to the Spanish capital and talks between Atletico Madrid and Robertson's agency, headed by Trent Alexander-Arnold's brother, Tyler, have already begun.

Italian journalist Matteo Moretto reports that a deal between Atletico Madrid and Liverpool could be agreed fairly easily.

This is because the Reds will only require a "modest fee" for the left-back who arrived at Anfield eight years ago.

Providing an update on Atletico's interest in Robertson via X, Moretto added that the 2021 La Liga winners deem Robertson a more "achievable target" than AC Milan defender Theo Hernandez.

Earlier this week, Robertson admitted he was unsure about his future at Anfield despite having held talks with club officials.

"We’ve had good discussions, me and the club, but what the future holds, I’m not sure," said Robertson.

"I can’t look too far ahead, I never have done that so I’m not going to start doing that now.

"I know the position I’m in, I know I’ve only got a year left.

"The players that we’re linked with are all younger players and they’re all exciting players as well.

"So when you play for a big club like Liverpool, you expect challenges, you expect to have competition.

"I’ve always faced that and so has everyone in their own positions."
